It was a great honor to receive this award on behalf of CAA Singapore. It is only awarded by the Columbia Alumni Association to one international club and one US club per year, in recognition of the creativity and dedication with which the club connects the Singapore area alumni to one another and back to Columbia University.
CAA Singapore was recognized for its achievements in connecting alums, students, and faculty in Singapore and regionally with over 70 engaging events and trips catering to all demographics over the last two years. CAA Singapore raised the most money on Giving Day 2017 out of all international clubs, and the second most worldwide.
Former CAA Singapore President Nick Yen, CC ’91, also received the Alumni Medal. Nick was one of the founding members of CAA Singapore and continues to serve as an adviser. In addition, he is ARC Chair and helps with regional clubs as the Alumni Delegate on the Associations and Clubs committee. Nick started as a tour guide in his sophomore year and has always been engaged. He hopes to continue to contribute towards vibrant Columbia community in which students and alumni can engage on multiple levels to create long-lasting relationships.
