On 11 March 2017 the Columbia University Club of Singapore welcomed new faces as we celebrated the largest AGM attendance in recent history. Over 55 attendees considered the relevance of an education and career in journalism after a thoughtful speech from our guest speaker Mr. Chan Heng Wing, Columbia Journalism Alum '74. His talk "Has the Columbia Journalism School Become Obsolete" took the audience through time from a national and international level. Mr. Chan covered everything from Nixon, Pulitzer, class pranks, to the current U.S. administration and insights on our own bias in a world of digital interaction.
The talk was followed up by a wonderful lunch at the top of the Hilton Singapore, where new and old members mingled and learned more about the community in Singapore.
As we usher in our new board, we also welcome new members to the club and we hope to see more of you throughout the year at our variety of events. To learn more sign up for our email updates for a listing of our events and activities.
