Self-Leadership for Change Agents: The Art of Living with the End in Mind

If you're working for compassion, justice, freedom, peace or wisdom in any capacity, this session's for you. You are there for the wellbeing of others. This session is to support your wellbeing and growth.

As someone who dedicates their life to meaningful change in the world, it can feel like there’s never enough time to get things done.  Sometimes this focus on social impact may come at the expense of other important matters. So in this session, we look at the fact that being human means we each have finite time. How can this awareness wake us up to act on what's most important; to live a richer, fuller life; to create even greater impact? What would we do if we had a year to live?

Come join us in this interactive zoom session where you'll network and enjoy meaningful conversation with fellow change agents from various countries and listen to a sharing by our Guest Speaker, Barbara Becker. You will leave with a fresh way to live more fully and with renewed energy.

Guest: Barbara Becker is the author of Heartwood: The Art of Living with the End in Mind.  She has dedicated more than twenty-five years to partnering with human rights advocates around the world in pursuit of peace and interreligious understanding. Barbara served on the faculty of the Master’s Program in Strategic Communications at Columbia University, and is a sought-after speaker on a wide range of topics, including deepening our sense of meaning and the power of owning our stories.  More at barbarabecker.com.

Facilitator: Vadivu Govind (SIPA'09) is the Director of Human Unlimited, a purpose-driven business committed to nurturing life-affirming leadership and workplaces. She has been on a path of self-transformation and making change for a more compassionate world since 1990.   A former graduate student of Barbara at Columbia, Vadivu has lived with more courage, peace and intentionality because of an idea Barbara shared with her.  This is the very idea that sparked this session, and which we will explore.
