Columbia Connects/Diplomatic Dialogues: George Tumur, Mongolian Ambassador to Singapore

CAA Singapore is pleased to introduce "Diplomatic Dialogues", a new speaker series featuring diplomatic representatives in Singapore discussing relevant issues pertaining to their country's political and economic outlook. For the first event in the series, we are delighted to host H.E. George Lkhagvadorj Tumur, Ambassador of Mongolia to Singapore. Ambassador Tumur will discuss Mongolia's transition to a multiparty democracy, the country's economic performance and outlook, its foreign relations and global position, and the state of Singapore-Mongolia relations.

A buffet dinner will be served prior to the Ambassador's presentation. Please join us for a fascinating opportunity to learn more about Mongolia. This event is available to the worldwide Columbia alumni community through Columbia Connects

About Ambassador Tumur

H.E. Lkhagvadorj “George” Tumur is the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia accredited to the Republic of Singapore and Non-Resident Ambassador to the Republic of the Philippines and Brunei Darussalam. He was appointed as the ASEF Governor for Mongolia in October 2015, and in December 2016, was unanimously elected as Vice-Chair for the ASEF Board of Governors as well as ASEF Executive Committee (ExCo) Member for 2017. H.E. Tumur is a political appointee assigned to accelerate Mongolian bilateral and multilateral economic cooperation with the accredited countries and the region.

Possessing a sharp business acumen coupled with an intricate understanding of mining and investment legal landscape in Mongolia, Ambassador Lkhagvadorj Tumur is one of the foremost leaders in introducing western mining and mineral processing technologies into the respective industry of Mongolia. Based on his extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of the mining industry, he has successfully listed several companies such as Hunnu Coal Ltd. (ASX:HUN), Voyager Resources Ltd. (ASX:CJC) and Wolf Petroleum Ltd. (ASX:WOF) on the Australian Stock Exchange and managed the development of one of Mongolia’s major coking coal deposit.

Ambassador Lkhagvadorj Tumur has a Master of Arts in International Studies from Canterbury University, UK; Master of Science in Mining and Earth System Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering from Colorado School of Mines, USA; and a Technical Degree in Mineral Processing from Ukrainian Industrial Technical School, Ukraine. He speaks Mongolian, Russian, English and Spanish.
