Since 2007, the Center for Career Education has been partnering with employers and alumni in various countries around the globe to provide these internship opportunities. The Columbia Experience Overseas (CEO) program offers Columbia students high quality internship experiences in a diverse array of industries in Amman, Beijing, Hong Kong, London, Shanghai and Singapore through alumni and employer partnerships. As globalization increases, international cultural exposure and work experiences become more important to successfully navigating and meeting the demands of the changing work environment.   The CEO internship program is a combination of gaining full time work experience over the summer in an international location, immersion in new and exciting experiences, connecting with Columbia alumni, networking with professionals and learning about career opportunities.

As part of the program, an alumni mentor or mentors will be assigned to each student. The mentor provides guidance & support by sharing tips about his or her city, and helping to answer questions regarding professional development, networking and navigating the workplace. Through the Columbia Experience Overseas Programs (CEO) Singapore program, Columbia students participate in high-quality internships that help them to build their professional skill base while increasing Columbia’s international and domestic presence.

This year, there will be 13 students who will be in Singapore around the middle of June to the beginning of August. If you are willing to share your experiences, whether it is navigating the MRT system or hunting down Singapore’s best chicken rice, this will be a great opportunity to connect with a current student and also to enhance his or her experience here in Singapore.

If you are interested in being a mentor, please email Vernon Gibbs from the CEO office at [email protected]or sign up via this link http://www.careereducation.columbia.edu/node/3625
